Swing time, a look back and Americana
Inveterate ivory tinkler Jools Holland’s long long quest to deliver a chart topping album has finally ended with the release of “Swing Fever.”
The keyboard player’s collaboration with Rod Stewart celebrates the timeless charms of big band music, with Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
BMG’s new Status Quo anthology chronicles the band’s early faltering efforts.
Dan Hicks quirky Americana also repays closer investigation, as do the freshly minted new offerings from the diverse trio of Banter, Yova and Idles, with the latter outfit making a particularly potent contribution to the proceedings. (photo: Adobe)
