I attended the public meeting, which was overwhelmingly against any student flats at Jock’s Lodge. The proposed building will be totally against the look of the area. Nobody came out in support of this. What is the point of requesting planning permission from the council, if the government reporter can go right over their heads? Jonathan Hume

They've been taking over our entire neighbourhood for "student flats" in order to house all of the thousands and thousands of students from China they're taking in for £££££.

Developer went to the government Reporter who said yes. Against over 1500 objections and with no right of appeal. The area is getting nothing but losing a community pub. Absolute joke!

The powers that be would prefer some more nice “Soviet style” buildings than any historic or community style, as the “Soviet style” brings in more £ to their coffers than any pertaining to anything historic or of the “common people” of Edinburgh.
