Lothian Buses made a £3.2m dividend for councils for the first time since Covid

-

Please bring back our 41 and 42 buses. It is against all the principles of inclusivity to make the city so unfriendly for cars (not everyone can cycle - as the nearpermanently empty cycle lanes prove) while making the once enviable bus service more and more elusive.

Liz Beeston

Some good news and people still moan. Bore off! You've obviously never lived anywhere anywhere where Stagecoach is the main provider, then you'd have something to moan about. Michael Salisbury

Excellent. Now they can invest in other routes. I'm voting for Cramond to the Gyle, Corstorphine... somewhere useful. David Milne

Let's invest this money in better road surfaces to make bus journeys more comfortable, and investing in trackers that track in real time. Cllr Scott Arthur Working hard for Colinton,

Oxgangs & Fairmilehead - our Transportation and Environment Convener should be working hard for all of Edinburgh’s residents. He claims that everything that's wrong is because of his predecessors, but having been in post for almost two years nothing has improved.

In fact, it's got worse under his watch.

Rosemary Faith Ryan

The dividend should be used to fix every road in Edinburgh that the buses have destroyed. Have never seen a world renowned capital city's roads in this much of a state. It’s an embarrassment.

Ian Henderson

Buses destroying roads? That's purely down to the amount of traffic and lack of maintenance and implementation. Also those of you whining about fares... Go take a trip to Glasgow and experience the public transport through there. Poor quality of service for money. I mean Edinburgh has great transport for what we pay. Gary Dunn

In my opinion the service has deteriorated a lot recently and I'm very angry about it. Routes cut, fewer buses and a lot of them don't even turn up. I've heard so many people complain about this recently. Hazel Hamilton

Waited for the 14 last night and it never turned up. Once again tonight the 14 doesn't turn up at 20.15. People waiting for a bus to get home from work – damn shambles, I think.

Adam Kerr

Well, how about investing in routes taking in Ratho,

Newbridge, Kirkliston, Dalmeny and South Queensferry? All come under Edinburgh council umbrella. By the time Edinburgh Council fritters tax payers money away now’t is left in the pot for these areas. Shocking.

Graeme Archibald

If they never had to subsidise the loss making trams we would have a much cheaper bus service.

Thomas Imrie

And cause £30 million of damage to the roads. Since the introduction of those large format buses the roads have been savaged.

James Davis

Lothian Buses, instead of helping the Dunbar service where thousands of homes have been built, will instead add another service to Haddington which has three bus services already. Darren Wright
