Waverley Bridge set to be re-opened to buses
It should never have been closed in the first place. We used to have an ‘Integrated transport system’ where local buses could directly connect with trains and airport buses. All gone, even their precious tram doesn’t stop anywhere near the train station. So much for progress! Looks like banning traffic trumps all – even common sense!
Ted Harris
Thank goodness for that. It made sense for the airport bus to stop on Waverley bridge with easy access to the trains. They should allow taxis into Waverley Station too. How people with poor mobility manage to get to the taxi ranks I don't know Jacqueline Moore
Given that Waverley Station is so centrally located, particularly so for tourists than any other city in the UK, it is amazing how badly connected it is to public transport, taxis, even shortterm parking
John Riley
Should be open to cars too. Causes me huge hassle as it’s a good route for where I go in the centre. Have to use alternative route now, which is further and burns more fuel. So much for saving the planet
Bryan Anderson
Hopefully means an end to the noise merchants that turn up at the top of the road so often
Craig Carson
Roads are supposed to be for vehicles!
Tommy Moore
Trams coming up the bridges in the next few years, wasn’t “essential works” they were reinforcing the bridge for the trams that will go to the ERI … nothing wrong with the buses Shaun Knight
Just in time for the festival, I'm sure that's not related in any way
Jamie Hogg
Get the north bridge fully open, that's the most important one
Davie Kelly
At last, someone with a small amount of sense
Hakuren Chan
Let’s open it, na let’s shut it, na let’s put a cycle lane in. Actually let’s open it for the banter. Edinburgh Council are destroying the place
Chris Miller
Should get a debate on your road tax in Edinburgh. Nearly all the roads are dug up or closed, against your rights
Wilma Bruce
Er, not exactly pedestrianisation! Permanent roadworks and bridge closure would be closer to the truth Suzanne Carol Senior
Open all the roads back up. The queuing traffic just creates more pollution Kevin Murray
Only because they’re closing every other blessed road in the area!
Margaret Jeffrey
Only for tourists. locals don’t count
