Rails fare cuts will help us all

-

How ironic that John Swinney brings up the ‘everything has to be paid for’ mantra when it comes to rail fares, when a lot of people have no choice but to use this expensive method to commute to work.

This ‘everything has to be paid for’, was never mentioned when permanent, free, under 22s bus travel was handed out. There aren’t many 16-22-year-olds in work needing free travel.

Free childcare, free school meals, free iPads in schools etc sends out completely the wrong message for a young generation who will grow up ‘expecting’ rather than ‘earning’.

But the SNP doesn’t rush forward telling us what these are costing the Scottish tax payer.

Where is parity in this debate? Many of us are suffering financially along with health issues somewhere along the line. Children or no children, keeping a job and a well generation is paramount, reducing fares should be a priority.

The SNP should understand we want policies that are good for all people. Health and money worries are the biggest issues stopping people going to work.

The SNP needs to stop making divisive decisions that benefit those ‘with’ and not those ‘without’. What happened to ‘everyone’? Then we can say ‘we’re all paying for this’.
