Florist Rachael Pegg at Wroxham reveals the little handbag essentials which help her through the day.

Rachael Pegg hadn’t always dreamed of being a florist – in fact, she admits she was the exact opposite of a flower lover growing up. “My mum thought it was funny that I became so passionate about floristry because as a child I used to pull the heads off flowers. I wanted to be a forensic scientist or a radio DJ,” she laughs.

A Saturday job at a florist’s nearly 25 years ago changed all that, and now she is co-owner and manager of The Florist Shop in Wroxham.

“It is such a creative job and I love working with so many different customers - it makes my job so interesting and rewarding. You can now get so many beautiful fresh, unusual flowers, but I still love peonies and sweet peas the best. They never disappoint.”

Her handbag doubles as a mobile office and contains everything she needs for the shop.

“I tend not to buy cheap bags as I am very demanding on them. By spending a bit more they tend to last a long time, it is definitely an investment. I have a gorgeous big Karen Millen bag at the moment which I love.”
