Our fashion shoot with Bakers and Larners of Holt showcased some gorgeous wardrobe must-haves in a most fitting country setting
With autumn in full swing, what better way to show off the latest collection of classic men’s and women’s wear from Holt’s independent department store Bakers and Larners, than a country inspired fashion shoot?
This year’s autumn/winter collection focuses on Harris tweeds, cashmere and faux fur, with a rich colour palette of steel greys, blues, baby pinks and burgundies.
“It’s all about looking fantastic while feeling amazing,” says department manager Tracey Hagon. “The new range of Warm&Co ladies’ cashmere this autumn/ winter is an essential addition to any wardrobe, perfect for layering up, whether for a day in or a day out. With our classic ranges from Barbour, Gerry Weber, Steilmann and introducing new brands such as Garcia and Le Comte, we are able to offer our customers all they need to create their perfect winter wardrobe.”
The fashion shoot also features some great ideas to revitalise any man’s wardrobe with some great key pieces.
“Menswear has great brands such as Barbour, Harris Tweed, Brooke Taverner, Fynch Hatton and Meyer. Again it’s about layering with different fabrics like tweed, moleskin, corded and Merino wool.”
Get the look
Styling and production for our very autumnal shoot was by Norfolk Production, who also provided the rather stunning venue at Mannington, near Holt, through sister company East Coast Locations. Tessa Reynolds, managing director of Norfolk Production, says they set up the location company in collaboration with London based JJ Locations.
“JJ Locations are an excellent company with a Europe-wide client base and are keen to work very closely with us to promote Norfolk and Suffolk. We are less than two hours from London and clients can easily shoot here and travel back in one day. Our aim is to make it easy for them to shoot here. They do not have to worry about anything other than getting their shots – everything else is taken care of by us.”
Keep it natural
Hair and make-up for the shoot was done by Katie Barnes who says model Rebecca’s strong bone structure and clear skin is perfect for the current “barely there” make-up trend.
“I used Louise Young’s Essential Eye Palette One which creates cool, relaxed tones on her eyelids and brows, and then a berry-coloured stain on her lips to contrast the outdoorsy textures and colours of the clothes. For the hair, the flyaway waves were styled by twisting sections and clamping them with straighteners to create a soft, un-done finish.”
Katie’s biggest hair and make-up tip for this season is to keep things very simple. “Don’t be tempted to over-style your hair and make-up this autumn. Stick with natural eyes and subtle cheeks, but add a splash of autumn-inspired colour to your lips for an instant fashion fix.”
