EDP Norfolk - - Gardening -

We live near the Broads and in winter much of our garden can get waterlogged. Can you suggest any plants which will tolerate these conditions? If you have a high water table and your soil remains damp in the summer, moisture-loving perennials such as Iris laevigata and sibirica would grow well as would Astilbe, Actea and Zantedeschia aethiopica. Suitable shrubs include Hydrangea paniculata, Physocarpus, sambucus and Cornus alba. An attractive small tree worth trying is Alnus glutinosa imperalis - with its deep cut leaves in summer and catkins in winter it has a long period of interest.
