Director for Fine & Country Norfolk and North Suffolk, Cameron Black, offers an insight into a typical day in an estate agents’ life
You would not believe how many times I have heard the phrase “You estate agents have it easy”. So I thought I would give you a run-down of a typical day to attempt to convince you that us agents don’t exactly have it easy!
Arriving at the office early before my team, I organise my busy day ahead.
Meet with my office manager to discuss offers, potential sales, exchanges etc from the previous day.
In the car, off to my first appointment to meet with some previous clients of ours who have decided to move again.
Drive to meet with a developer on an exciting new project. I drive about 2,500 miles per month! Thank goodness for hands-free mobile phones as I spend most of my time speaking to my staff or potential clients.
Back in the car, more phone calls, trying to convince a buyer not
to pull out after his survey.
A valuation at my next property which is tucked away on the banks of a river, stunning!
Pick up a sandwich and a packet of crisps to eat in my car (no lavish sit down lunch).
Next valuation, a farmhouse - I spend two hours here and the owners have agreed to come on to the market with us.
Back at office, catch up on the day’s happenings with my staff - an exchange, three offers and two sales. Write up my valuation reports and email them off. Take a call from an appointment yesterday who, after seeing other agents, would would like to come on to the market. A big smile crosses my face. Even though I have been an agent for nearly 20 years this still gives me a big buzz!
Lock up and make my way to car park. A good day’s work done!
For advice about selling your family home, please give me a call or chat to one of my team, at Fine and Country, 01603 221888.
The kind of stunning property Cameron Black visits on his every day travels as an estate agent. This one at Helhougton is for sale for £1.65 million with Fine & Country
