The Coast Arts Fes­ti­val brings some per­fectly punc­tu­ated per­for­mances to north Nor­folk this month, writes Rowan Man­tell

Mid-way through au­tumn, half-way through the school term, in a land­scape poised be­tween sea and land, this year’s Coast Fes­ti­val cel­e­brates the arts around Cromer and Sher­ing­ham with a theme of Lit­toral Liv­ing – the highs and the lows.

Lit­toral is the term for the in­ter-ti­dal area be­tween the high­est high wa­ter mark down to shore­line which is per­ma­nently sub­merged.

Into this tip­ping point in the year and the land­scape, flood dancers, ac­tors, artists, sto­ry­tellers and mu­si­cians for the 2015 Coast Fes­ti­val, from Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 23 to Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 31.

The fes­ti­val was launched in 2010 to cel­e­brate and show­case the arts in the Cromer and Sher­ing­ham area and now brings artists from near and far to the area, co-or­di­nat­ing a huge range of events dur­ing the school half-term week and help­ing ex­tend the tourist sea­son into the au­tumn.

High­lights of this year’s Coast Fes­ti­val in­clude an evening with Lynne Truss, the grand fi­nal of a tal­ent com­pe­ti­tion and a mu­si­cal com­edy drama telling the story of Nor­folk’s Singing Post­man.

There will also be cir­cus work­shops, African mu­sic and dance, drama, a pho­tog­ra­phy com­pe­ti­tion, films, art ex­hi­bi­tions and work­shops, sto­ry­telling, a lit­er­ary lunch, mu­sic, po­etry, in­stal­la­tions, a his­tory day, a cel­e­bra­tion of walk­ing and much more.
