Power to the panto!
Pantomime season is here, so grab your coat, some great company and get yourself down to one these daft delights, writes Victoria Hornagold
Pantomimes are the perfect way to bring the whole family together and get into the festive flow. Around the county casts are frantically rehearsing to ensure everyone has a wonderful night, where slapstick comedy and fairytale combine to create entertainment for all ages. Here’s our selection of six great pantos not to miss:
NORWICH THEATRE ROYAL Jack and The Beanstalk
This year the traditional Christmas spirit gets a Wild West cowboy spin on it that is sure to have the audience in stitches. The show runs from Tuesday, December 13 to Sunday, January 15, 2017.
Make sure to get your boos and hisses ready for Wayne Sleep, the Royal Ballet Company dancer who has appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and even I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. Richard Gauntlett is not just the show’s writer and director, but also stars as the Dame Nigella Trottalot, making this his 16th year of panto here in Norwich. Tickets are £7-£21.50. KING’S LYNN CORN EXCHANGE Cinderella
King’s Lynn Corn Exchange’s pantomime Cinderella promises “live music, stunning sets, slick choreography, sensational costumes and spectacular musical numbers”. The show, that runs from Friday, December 9 to Saturday, December 31, is especially perfect for schools, with a special deal offering tickets at £10 and one free teacher ticket for every 10 purchases.
