KATE HELPS RAISE DOUGH FOR CHARITY
Norfolk’s baking queen Kate Barmby has cooked up three new recipes to help county children’s charity Nelson’s Journey’s Purple Picnic week The 2016 Great British
Bake-Off contestant’s culinary creations will feature in the Purple Picnic fund-raising packs and she will also be visiting a picnic during the week to help the charity raise funds needed to continue its work with bereaved children and young people living in Norfolk.
“Having met some of the young people that Nelson’s Journey has assisted I have become aware of how much they help children in Norfolk to rebuild their lives when the worst tragedy you can imagine has happened. I have seen how what they do is not about forgetting or moving on, it’s about holding on to precious memories and supporting children to continue to live rich and fulfilling lives following the loss of someone they love,” said Kate.
“Loss and grief is never something easy to talk about and it’s even harder when young people are involved, this is why I think the Purple Picnic is such a wonderful idea and why I am pleased to support it.”
The Purple Picnic will take place between June 12 and 18 when individuals, schools and businesses will be able to hold their own Purple Picnics to raise vital funds.
