Rosie Kefford shares her handbag secrets

ROSIE KEFFORD already runs two successful beauty businesses but she has just fulfilled her long held dream of opening her first salon in Norwich.

“We found the perfect premises in February on Bedford Street in the heart of the Norwich Lanes and then spent the spring painting and decorating it and transforming it ready for opening in July,” she says.

“As well as offering a wide range of treatments, the Norwich salon will also, we hope, be the place to come if you have a special night out, a wedding or important social occasion. You can come in and have everything done in one go. We will have skin therapists, make up artists, a brow bar, nail station – basically top-to-toe treatments to make you look and feel fantastic.”

Rosie started her training as a beauty therapist after a chance encounter and by the age of 21 was running her first business.

“I was really good at the artistic and creative subjects at school so I started an art course at City College but it didn’t feel right. Then one day I was walking through college and ran into a woman who asked if I was there for the beauty therapy course enrolment. It was a light bulb moment. I thought: why not? I am a firm believer in fate. I enrolled and absolutely loved the course and I still get to use my creative side.”

Rosie, who lives in Halesworth, says that since becoming mum to one-year-old Jax her handbag habits have changed.

“I am now very much a two bag person – I swap between a stylish baby changing bag and my Mulberry – depending on whether it is a mum or work day. They are both proper Mary Poppins’ bags though – you cannot believe how much I have crammed in.” Rosie’s Hair, Beauty and Make-up Studio, 27 Bedford Street, Norwich, NR2 1AG

Dermalogica multivitamin hand and nail cream, £10.95 It is the most fantastic skincare range. This hand cream was my absolute saviour when we were doing the shop as I was constantly scrubbing paint off my hands.

Beats Pill, from £149 This mini wireless speaker has been an absolutely godsend. I have signed up to Apple Music and can play music anytime, anywhere. It kept me going while I was getting the shop ready and painting all day long.

MAC lipstick, Velvet Teddy, £16.50 Being a make-up artist I am constantly applying my lipstick and I love MAC make-up, both for me and for customers; it is one of the best brands and this lipstick is fantastic.

Ted Baker notebook, from £15 It comes out of my handbag at night, so I can write down anything that I need to remember for the next day, whether ideas, notes for meetings or lists. I can’t be without it.

AND A LITTLE SOMETHING ELSE…… I always have packets of Peppa Pig raisins. Not only do they keep Jax happy and occupied, I quite like them as a snack myself.

Ray-Ban Aviators, £135 I have always found it difficult to find sunglasses which suit me but these are such a classic shape and I absolutely love them.
