EDP Norfolk - - The Mardler -

The transformation of Wells Maltings into a new heritage, learning, community and arts centre is taking another step forward with the creation of a year-long heritage art trail which will be part of our opening festivities in spring 2018.

People of the Shore and Sea Trail will feature East Anglian artists and be professionally curated. Now the Wells Maltings Trust, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, is looking for artists to create original work for the project with a £1,000 prize on offer. Artists are asked to look to the town’s heritage and culture for inspiration, including stories like the lifeboat disaster, the life of a whelker, or the roles of women in the town.

The selected artist will work alongside professional curators to place each new work along the beach mile, or in the town, or at the Wells Maltings itself. A prize of £1,000 will be awarded to one artist by a panel of independent judges for an exceptional work reflecting Wells’ heritage. www.wellsmaltings.org.uk
