Win an e-bike:
Fantastic £1,699 prize from Mark 2 Bikes
Here is part two of our fabulous competition to win a £1,699 electric bicycle from Norwich’s Mark 2 company! We printed question one in the May issue of EDP Norfolk and the second question and the entry form are printed here.
Andy Elliot has been perfecting his Mark 2 electronic bikes for the past two years. The designer and cyclist of Drayton, near Norwich, decided to develop his battery powered bikes after conversations with his dad, Mark, who had enjoyed cycling but was finding it harder to keep up. The company currently offers two models of bike – the Scrambler (mountain bike) and the X-Cross (hybrid commuter.)
The electronics – battery and motor - are small enough to mean the bike will not stand out when locked on streets, but powerful enough to take on mountains (or a city commute). The battery charge can last around 60 miles, depending on how much assistance is used in each journey, before it needs to be recharged.
With several settings riders can vary the assistance from nothing to enough power to smooth out the effort of battling hills or headwinds, to bursts of full throttle for particularly precipitous sections. The bikes are now selling to individuals and bike hire businesses across the country, and attracting rave reviews. mark2.co.uk
