NOR­FOLK DAY BUILD­ING UP A HEAD OF STEAM

The mo­men­tum be­hind the first-ever Nor­folk Day con­tin­ues to grow. There are now over 100 events and ideas out there to help com­mu­ni­ties cel­e­brate the day on Fri­day, July 27.

Among the things hap­pen­ing are a com­mu­nity pho­tog­ra­phy competitio­n, with a £500 first prize, and an art competitio­n for the county’s tal­ented young artists.

Crib­bage play­ers will have a spe­cial tour­na­ment in Nor­wich, while tra­di­tional reed-cut­ter Wally Ma­son will be show­ing off his skills, pro­mot­ing Nor­folk’s wa­ter­ways and na­ture and its lon­grun­ning ru­ral tra­di­tions at a fam­ily fun day on Satur­day, July 28, at the New Inn, Rock­land St Mary.

Mi­cro­brew­ery Nor­folk Brew­house, on Har­vest Lane, Hin­dring­ham, is cre­at­ing lim­ited edi­tion bot­tles of Nor­folk Day Sun­rise and Nor­folk Day Sun­set for the event on July 27 and Wood­fordes will also be cre­at­ing a cel­e­bra­tory thirst-quencher.

Nor­folk Day is be­ing sup­ported by EDP Nor­folk mag­a­zine’s sis­ter pub­li­ca­tion the Eastern Daily Press and BBC Ra­dio Nor­folk.
