10 years of Amazona Zoo
As one of the county’s favourite animal attractions celebrates a milestone, owner Benjamin Cabbell-Manners reveals some of the things he loves about Norfolk
I have farmed here at Cromer for 40 years and loved every second of it. One of the most appealing aspects of Norfolk life is that no two seasons are ever the same. The freshness of the spring and the autumn colours are particularly striking along this stretch of the north Norfolk coast.
I like to ride every day and we are very lucky to have a fantastic network of bridleways which are a great way to see the countryside and also to exercise our dogs. For a real treat we often take our horses for a ride on the beach at Holkham.
This part of north Norfolk is full of activities and attractions, including our own Amazona Zoo in Cromer and Cromer Hall, the pier, the beach and, of course, the carnival.
I like to eat out but I don’t have to travel far to find fantastic restaurants; we have Hot Rocks, Galton Blackiston’s No1 and a great Thai restaurant. And the Davies fish shop has lovely, fresh-caught seafood all year round.
Norfolk’s built heritage is quite outstanding; from the cathedral in Norwich to the Saxon church at Roughton the craftsmanship is exemplary.
How our forefathers created these architectural structures with l imited toolds is just amazing – just like Norfolk!
