BEN AND RUBY ARE BIG HITTERS
Two school pupils from Norwich are keen to follow in the footsteps of one of Norfolk’s sporting heroes – wheelchair tennis player Alfie Hewett (see page 33).
Ben Bartram, 13, and Ruby Bishop, 14, have both been selected to compete in the wheelchair tennis at the 2018 School Games – a national multi-sport event for the UK’s most talented schoolage athletes taking place at Loughborough University on August 30 to September 2.
It is a huge accolade for the youngsters, who will join over 1,400 athletes from across the country to compete in 11 different sports, five of which include disability disciplines.
Ben, who goes to All Saints School in Lessingham and Ruby, who goes to Sprowston Community Academy, are part of the Tennis Foundation’s new Junior Futures Potential programme which identifies and develops the best young players in the country. schoolgamesfinals.org
