Awards: The big night of the year - who were our winners?
It was another night of great celebration at the EAT Norfolk Food & Drink Awards 2018
The great and the good in the county’s food and drink business gathered at OPEN in Norwich for the EAT Norfolk 2018 Food & Drink Awards. Hosted by BBC TV’s David Whiteley, the awards celebrated the best producers, suppliers, retailers, chefs, front-of-house, restaurants, pubs, cafes and dining experiences, plus a special award for outstanding achievement.
The evening began with a gin and tonic reception courtesy of Bullards Gins, with musical entertainment from singer Sarah Probert, before guests took their places for a welcome from EDP Norfolk magazine editor Dominic Castle and a speech from Oli Watts, head of communication and community at headline sponsors the East of England Co-op.
After a delightful three-course dinner from caterer Julie Abbs, the serious business of the awards was underway. In a new development this year, the guests were able to watch a short video with each award which gave the finalist the chance to talk about themselves and their businesses before the winners were revealed to cheers – and a few tears of joy.
After the presentations the guests mingled and the more adventurous went on to the after-show party at Gonzo’s.
