Awards: The big night of the year - who were our win­ners?

It was an­other night of great cel­e­bra­tion at the EAT Nor­folk Food & Drink Awards 2018

The great and the good in the county’s food and drink busi­ness gath­ered at OPEN in Nor­wich for the EAT Nor­folk 2018 Food & Drink Awards. Hosted by BBC TV’s David White­ley, the awards cel­e­brated the best pro­duc­ers, sup­pli­ers, re­tail­ers, chefs, front-of-house, restau­rants, pubs, cafes and din­ing ex­pe­ri­ences, plus a spe­cial award for out­stand­ing achievemen­t.

The evening be­gan with a gin and tonic re­cep­tion cour­tesy of Bullards Gins, with mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment from singer Sarah Probert, be­fore guests took their places for a wel­come from EDP Nor­folk mag­a­zine edi­tor Do­minic Cas­tle and a speech from Oli Watts, head of com­mu­ni­ca­tion and com­mu­nity at head­line spon­sors the East of Eng­land Co-op.

After a de­light­ful three-course din­ner from caterer Julie Abbs, the se­ri­ous busi­ness of the awards was un­der­way. In a new de­vel­op­ment this year, the guests were able to watch a short video with each award which gave the fi­nal­ist the chance to talk about them­selves and their busi­nesses be­fore the win­ners were re­vealed to cheers – and a few tears of joy.

After the pre­sen­ta­tions the guests min­gled and the more ad­ven­tur­ous went on to the after-show party at Gonzo’s.
