Buffet fit for a king

EDP Norfolk - - NORFOLK CHRISTMAS - essencefoods.co.uk

whether you have mid-morning guests popping in for nibbles or want to create a buffet tea to remember, Essence Foods has some great ideas to make sure no-one goes hungry.

The family-run business, based at a farm near Reepham, won the Pride of Norfolk award, sponsored by Norse Catering, and makes all its products by hand and works closely with many local producers to create its three ranges – Essence conserves and marmalades, Montys’ mustards and chutneys and Beetella healthy chocolate spreads.

“Christmas and winter is our favourite time of the year,” says Sarah. “It’s a time about happiness and generosity but most of all it’s about food, lots and lots of food. It’s what drives us through the year, making sure that our customers experience everything that we love about December.

“Here are just a few of our suggestions to make your Christmas delicious, memorable and most of all – easy.

“For savoury canapés we have sausage rolls filled with our classic Montys’ Red Onion Marmalade; goat’s cheese with chilli jam on wholegrain bread; smoked salmon with cream cheese and Montys’ Black Beauty Mustard wraps; cocktail sausages with a Taveners Mustard dip and to finish, roast beef bruschettas with Montys’ rib-tickler horseradish mustard.

“For a sweet treat, Medjool dates stuffed with marzipan, some covered with the Beetella chocolate orange spread and others just naturally naked, are delicious, as are sweet volau-vents filled with cream and Essence strawberry and rose conserve.”
