The Golden Triangle Dental Practice – A Year On
Patients at Golden Triangle Dental Practice are reaping the rewards of a year under the guidance of Dr Robbie De Villiers
When respected dentist Dr Robbie De Villiers acquired Golden Triangle Dental Practice last November, the idea was to extend the quality services and treatments to equal that of his flagship city centre surgery, Treetops Dental Practice.
A year on and the Earlham Road practice has undergone a complete refurbishment, with fresh decoration, eye-catching artwork and comfortable sofas transforming the waiting areas into relaxing and inviting spaces.
“We’ve had lots of positive comments from patients about how nice the practice looks now,” says practice manager Sheila Barlow. “It really makes a big difference to their experience at the dentist.”
There’s also been considerable investment in new technology with the installation of an OPG X-ray machine, which produces panoramic images of the teeth and upper and lower jaw bones, providing clinicians with a more comprehensive view of the mouth.
“It’s a good diagnostic tool and brings the practice up to date with the latest digital technology, which is the way forward in dentistry and something which Robbie and the whole team are passionate about,” says Sheila.
Golden Triangle Dental Practice offers an extended range of treatments with patients looked after by Dr Deetleef Neethling and Dr Emiliano Serrano Vargas, as well as the hygienist Emma Warner. If more advanced or specialist treatments are requested, it’s an easy in-house referral process to the team at Treetops.
The wide range of treatments available under the Treetops umbrella includes dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening, porcelain veneers, CEREC crowns (a digital technology which enables a prepared tooth to be scanned and a crown created on site on the same day) and
sedation for nervous patients. Facial aesthetic treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers are also available.
While Robbie provides advanced full-mouth rehabilitation, including implant reconstruction, his passion stretches through the whole dental spectrum, particularly the dental outreach work he undertakes every year in Africa.
In June, Robbie spent time in Namibia, visiting primitive bushman villages and distributing toothbrushes and toothpaste (donated by Colgate), educating people on the importance of looking after their teeth and performing basic dentistry for the local Khoi-San people. The dental needs in Africa are vast and it is a great passion of Robbie’s to be able to contribute to this worthy cause.
“In first world countries we are very blessed to have relatively easy access to advanced dental care, whilst most people in rural Africa have very limited or no access to the most basic of dental care,’’ says Robbie.
