Pro­fes­sions: Emma is an in­te­rior de­signer, founder and cre­ative di­rec­tor of Kelling De­signs. Ni­cholas is a farmer.

Favourite room: The out­side sum­mer din­ing and sit­ting ar­eas in the court­yard ad­join­ing the party barn. Also the master bed­room, so peace­ful.

Favourite item: The bed in the master bed­room.

Favourite in­te­ri­ors shop: My own and Bom­bay Sprout.

Favourite other shop: The ones at Creake Abbey. Favourite part of the county: Here to Holkham.

Favourite day out: Burn­ham Mar­ket.

Favourite waste of time: Re-ar­rang­ing fur­ni­ture in the house. Drives Ni­cholas mad.

Favourite walk: Holkham beach. Just keep walk­ing and you are on your own.

Favourite cafe or restau­rant: Wive­ton, great food and views. No1 Cromer is great for fish and chips.

Hob­bies: Hol­i­days. Ski­ing in the French Alps, or trav­els to In­dia, from where we source a lot of the cush­ions and rugs for Bom­bay Sprout. We go twice a year, mainly to Ra­jasthan.

Most mag­i­cal mo­ment in the county: As a pa­tron and trustee of East Anglian Chil­dren’s Hospice, I or­gan­ised a din­ner for 1,000 at Houghton Hall, in the pres­ence of Duke and Duchess of Cam­bridge.
