At a certain age we can feel like we can’t embrace beauty trends and new make-up looks – but think again says Deborah Pritchard
Spring beauty tips from Deborah Pritchard
The other day one of my friends was talking to me about the new beauty trends for spring. “It’s all about glossy skin and pink eyes,” she said. “I have greasy skin and pink eyes through lack of sleep so finally I have an ontrend look!” We talked about this look seen on the catwalk from designers such as Giorgio Armani.
On fresh-faced youthful skin this make-up style looked beautiful and she was quick to dismiss this as a trend for younger people. She felt she had to stay with the make-up look she has had for the past few years.
The conversation got me thinking. At what age do we believe that we can no longer revamp our make-up look? Whatever your age you can transform your make-up look by embracing new trends – you just need to know how to make these trends work for you.
For example, you may not feel comfortable with a full glitter eye, but a gentle shimmer can really lift your eyes, distract from dark areas and blur laughter lines. This spring I want to help you make small changes that can make a big difference. Have you ever wanted to update your make-up bag?
Do you long to change up your look? Why not pop to the beauty hall and let us help? Choose your favourite brand and ask at the counter, or book an appointment with personal beauty consultants Paris or Yvonne who can offer impartial advice on the looks that will suit you.
In the meantime here are three of my favourites from the spring beauty launches that will update your look in an instant:
Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks £22 in Fresh Melon
This season make-up artists have been using the same colour on lips and cheeks. Choose a fresh, peachy tone and you can create a softer look that replicates this spring trend, much softer than powder blush and long wearing too.
Charlotte Tilbury - Pillow Talk Palette - £39
With flattering shades of pink, rose gold and matte brown, this new eye shadow palette is easy to use and will transform your eyes with a soft shimmer where you need it.
Lancôme - Custom Drops Liquid Highlighter - £26
If you like the thought of glowing, dewy skin, but don’t want to go for the full gloss look, this highlighter is for you. It’s lightweight and has a pearlescent texture that blends seamlessly with your chosen foundation for a subtle glow, or you can simply add a little over the top of your base to highlight cheekbones.
