Re­mem­ber, your out­side space is your sanc­tu­ary, away from day to day stresses and life pres­sures – whether you have a small bal­cony, back gar­den or a park nearby. Here are my top five things to help to re­lax and re­flect.

In­tro­duce a house plant or two to your in­door space. They look great and help im­prove air qual­ity and look­ing af­ter them gives a real sense of achieve­ment.

Have a go at grow­ing your own plants. It gives you a sense of pur­pose and achieve­ment from the re­sults. Who wouldn’t want to pick and smell their home-grown sweet peas, or taste their own run­ner beans?

Weed­ing and prun­ing is a great form of phys­i­cal ex­er­cise, boost­ing your mood and you can in­stantly see progress. Ev­ery­one loves hav­ing their hair cut; plants are no ex­cep­tion!

Add some colour to your out­side space us­ing an­nu­als. The ad­di­tion of pa­tio pots, hang­ing bas­kets or bal­cony planters will brighten any area and make you smile.

En­cour­ag­ing wildlife in to your gar­den will im­prove your per­sonal en­vi­ron­ment and you can lis­ten to bird song or watch but­ter­flies and bees fly­ing by.
