Specif­i­cally Holkham woods, which is open­ing a new ropes adventure course this month. Set next to the ex­ist­ing wood­land adventure play area, this course al­lows fam­i­lies to take a ‘trail of dis­cov­ery through the tree tops’, fin­ish­ing with a de­scent to the ground via two ex­hil­a­rat­ing zip lines.

Bud­ding ad­ven­tur­ers will be in safe hands with Holkham’s fully-trained team on site who will fit har­nesses, give vis­i­tors a thor­ough brief­ing on the equip­ment and guide them over the short in­tro­duc­tion course, be­fore climb­ing onto the main course. The whole course will have 25 el­e­ments in­clud­ing wobbly cross­ings, swing­ing bridges and zip wires.

Still in Holkham woods, forester Freddy Fut­ter re­ceived a sur­prise award from Royal Forestry So­ci­ety pres­i­dent An­drew Woods, in recog­ni­tion of his 40 years work­ing on the es­tate’s 870 hectares of wood­land.

Freddy, 68, who lives in Holkham said: “I was over­whelmed and very much sur­prised to be given the award.”
