IF YOU GO DOWN TO THE WOODS
Specifically Holkham woods, which is opening a new ropes adventure course this month. Set next to the existing woodland adventure play area, this course allows families to take a ‘trail of discovery through the tree tops’, finishing with a descent to the ground via two exhilarating zip lines.
Budding adventurers will be in safe hands with Holkham’s fully-trained team on site who will fit harnesses, give visitors a thorough briefing on the equipment and guide them over the short introduction course, before climbing onto the main course. The whole course will have 25 elements including wobbly crossings, swinging bridges and zip wires.
Still in Holkham woods, forester Freddy Futter received a surprise award from Royal Forestry Society president Andrew Woods, in recognition of his 40 years working on the estate’s 870 hectares of woodland.
Freddy, 68, who lives in Holkham said: “I was overwhelmed and very much surprised to be given the award.”
