NORWICH, TO AU­GUST 11 There’s free ad­mis­sion to Strangers’ Hall Mu­seum and The Mu­seum of Norwich at the Bridewell, thanks to the Freemen of Norwich. Strangers’ Hall is a mag­nif­i­cent Tudor house, with rooms ar­ranged to show life in pre­vi­ous cen­turies. En­try to the Mu­seum of Norwich in­cludes its new ex­hi­bi­tion Norwich in 1959, cel­e­brat­ing the 60th an­niver­sary of the Norwich-Rouen twin­ning. No need to book.

Stranger’s Hall opens Wednesday, Thursday and Fri­day 10am-4pm, Sun­day 1-4.30pm. The Mu­seum of Norwich opens Tuesday to Satur­day, 10am-4.30pm

WAVENEY SCULP­TURE

RAVENINGHA­M, AU­GUST 2 – SEPTEM­BER 8

See work by 38 artists on the theme of Woven Wood­land at the Raveningha­m Cen­tre. The Waveney Valley Sculp­ture Trail is open daily. All the art­work is for sale and there will be a pop-up gallery in the farm­house with prints, paint­ings, tex­tiles and ceramics. CROMER CAR­NI­VAL

AU­GUST 17-23

It’s the 50th an­niver­sary of the car­ni­val and high­lights in­clude the car­ni­val pro­ces­sion and the Blades Aer­o­batic team on Au­gust 21. Car­ni­val week­end on Au­gust 17 and 18 prom­ises dog shows, a gymkhana, a car­ni­val bake off, cus­tom cars, a crab­bing contest, fancy dress, and the crown­ing of Miss Cromer. Com­pe­ti­tions for all ages on the beach and prom, mu­sic, lawn bowls, and a free af­ter­noon tea for Cromer cou­ples cel­e­brat­ing a 50th wed­ding an­niver­sary. NORTH FOR NOSH

HOLKHAM, AU­GUST 31-SEPTEM­BER 1

The walled gar­den at Holkham Hall is the de­li­cious set­ting for the North Nor­folk Food and Drink Fes­ti­val. The walled gar­den once pro­duced veg­eta­bles and flow­ers for the man­sion, shel­tered from the el­e­ments of its coastal set­ting by high brick and flint walls. For the fes­ti­val it will be filled with stalls sell­ing a daz­zling ar­ray of food and drink pro­duced in north Nor­folk in­clud­ing bread, tarts, juices, cakes and bakes, cheeses, cheese­cakes, veg­eta­bles, meat and game, hand-made burg­ers and sausages, pies, cur­ries and chut­neys, ar­ti­san beer and gin, choco­lates and much more. There will also be plenty of samples to buy and snacks to feast on then and there, plus en­ter­tain­ment in­clud­ing food-themed ac­tiv­i­ties for chil­dren. The Cookery The­atre is hosted by Mary Kemp and will fea­ture top north Nor­folk chefs shar­ing culi­nary tips and favourite dishes. Free, £3 to park. 10am-4pm. north­nor­folk­food­fes­ti­val.co.uk
