EDP Norfolk - - NORFOLK BOOKS -

All but two of Norfolk’s rivers (the Nene and the Great Ouse) start and finish in the county.

Norfolk has rivers called Ant, Babingley, Gadder, Hun and Mermaid.

The River Great Ouse, which runs into the sea in King’s Lynn is the longest of several Ouses in Britain. The name means water in Celtic.

When St Felix arrived in West Norfolk in 630AD, by boat from the sea and up the river Babingley, he was saved from drowning by beavers and he made one of them a bishop.

Norfolk is an island, bordered by sea and rivers.
