EYEING UP THE STYLE
Fantastic sunglasses and fabulous frames ensured our August fashion shoot was quite a spectacle
Glasses are no longer just functional, they are a style statement. They can be elegant, or fun, timeless or very much on trend – as our latest fashion shoot with local independent opticians Cecil Amey shows.
And who better to model the stunning range of eyewear than Cecil Amey owner Emma Amey’s fabulous book club ladies.
It is the region’s largest independent opticians, with nine busy practices across – eight of which are in Norfolk in Norwich, Wroxham, Dereham, Wymondham, Attleborough, Watton, Aylsham and Harleston.
As well as having a team of highly qualified optometrists, opticians and optical assistants offering tailored and personalised advice, Cecil Amey also stocks a huge range of eyewear, including designer frames, glasses, sunglasses and sports. Brands include Tom Ford, Chanel, Ray Ban, Moscot and Cazal. It also provides contact lenses and accessories, specialised sight related clinics and a full hearing care service.
The idea for the shoot was the brainchild of Emma, who wanted to feature realistic representations of women of a certain age group who like to wear stylish eyewear. She said who better to model for the day than the 12 beautiful, independent, strong women who make up her book club – and much fun ensued.
Clothes for the day were provided by another well known Norwich independent business, Ginger, which is part of the Hatters and Jonathan Trumbull group.
GET THE LOOK
For the book club members, make-up artists Christa Ellis and Katie Barnes created a very natural look but tailored this for glasses wearers. They used MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation, which delivers sheer, buildable coverage and a satin finish, Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Bronzer and natural blush and natural lip colours.
The eye shadow from MAC was kept subtle as, advises Christa, lenses can sometimes magnify the eye and colour. The look was finished with Boots No.7 Mascara. The eyebrows, defined with a MAC pencil, were made to look stronger to frame the glasses.
