The amazing hidden reservoir under Norwich

Looking like a cathedral in brick, this is a rare glimpse inside a Victorian water reservoir underneath Norwich. The Lakenham facility, built in 1871, is never open to the public, but once a decade is drained, inspected and deep cleaned by Anglian Water. “When it was built it was an absolute feat of Victorian engineering,” says Nik Shelton, from Anglian Water. The reservoir will next be opened up in 2029.
