The ‘Husk’ armchair by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia is the ideal piece of furniture for the most relaxed room in this apartment

Patricia Urquiola’s deeply-padded ‘Husk’ armchair and ottoman tempt you to sit and snuggle in sofa-like sumptuousness. Indeed, Urquiola said when creating the ‘Husk’ for B&B Italia in 2011 that ‘those who look at a sofa must visually perceive a sense of both mental and physical comfort’. The chair’s moulded recycled plastic shell cradles the body, while quilted cushions (available in either cotton or leather) provide extra comfort. It can come with a fixed or swivel base (offered in natural oak, grey or black lacquered wood) and there’s also an outdoor version for those who love to luxuriate in the garden. The ‘Husk’ was shortlisted for a Compasso d’oro (Golden Compass Design Award) in the year it was made and scooped the IMM Cologne Best of Best Interior Innovation Award in 2012. It’s easy to see why.
