FASHION HOUSE
Italian architecture firm Piuarch has transformed a former aircraft manufacturing facility in Milan into a new headquarters for legendary fashion brand Gucci. Used during both world wars and later abandoned, the 3,850-square-metre hangar retains its industrial look and is the ideal space for Gucci’s inventive runway shows – earlier this year it was turned into an operating theatre, with models carrying heads and baby dragons. The ‘Gucci Hub’, a piazza-style square, sits at the heart of the complex, surrounded by showrooms, studios and offices (piuarch.it; gucci.com).
