This greenery guru’s colourful new furniture range will soon be gracing the world’s most stylish gardens
The outdoor designer whose furniture will be gracing the most stylish gardens
Milan-based designer Derek Castiglioni is known for treating outdoor spaces like interiors, ensuring they look lush, luxurious and exciting. A favourite with the fashion elite, he’s created gardens for Italian design duo Dimore Studio and British designer Stella Mccartney, as well as working with architectural firms and private clients.
This year, Castiglioni, who studied architecture before he began working for his family’s landscaping firm, launched his first outdoor furniture range: ‘Aquiloni’. It’s a mid-century-inspired collection of tables, a sofa, chairs and a sun lounger, all presented alongside his line of garden-ready fabrics – everything is made by skilled craftspeople in and around Milan. ‘My collection is born from the need to create something truly unique for the outdoors,’ explains Castiglioni. ‘Playing with colour and modular forms offers endless possibilities. Simple shapes and well-finished details make my pieces distinctive and contemporary.’ Tables, £1,575 each; chairs, £1,975 each; sun loungers, £4,520 each (derekcastiglioni.com).
