A remodelled London matchstick factory and a cathedral café
London studio Feilden Fowles has brought stonemasonry into the 21st century with a new café pavilion at Carlisle Cathedral. Red sandstone was cut using computer controlled
machines to create the gothic-shaped arches, which were then infilled with modern glazing. The café forms part of an extension to the medieval Fratry hall, allowing it to open to the public for the first time as an exhibition and events venue
