Colour yourself CALM

-

Colour is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to alter mood and it will come as no surprise that nature-inspired shades are best for ushering in a restful ambience. Designed by Benjamin Guedj, this space’s comforting, earthy palette gives the effect of a warm embrace (opposite). Greens are obvious go-tos – see Mandarin Stone’s new ‘Verbena’ honed-marble tiles, tinged delicately with the hue (above left). Proof that peaceful needn’t mean pale, the muted deep green scheme by Katie Lockhart Studio creates a reassuring retreat from the outside world (above centre), while the lush, vibrant shades of tile favoured by SJB (above right) and Malta practice Cuschieri Architects ( below left) provide a dose of revitalisation. Don’t overlook sanitaryware and fittings – The Water Monopoly’s ‘Soho’ bathtub, seen here ( below right) in a delicate blue, subtly sets the tone for a light and tranquil scheme.
