Always forward-thinking, Calligaris stays one step ahead

An early adopter of incorporating sustainable practices and materials, in 2012 Calligaris launched a version of its best-selling ‘Skin’ chair in recyclable composite biomaterial, followed by ‘Vela’ (below) in 2019, made with bioplastic derived from renewable plant sources, which produces around 70 per cent less CO emissions than traditional plastic.

Meanwhile, the brand’s design credentials go from strength to strength with each new collection. Standout pieces from 2020 included the frosted glass ‘Merian’ side tables by E-GGS (above) and Bernhardt & Vella’s ‘Rendez Vous’ lounge chair, while this year’s novelties include the sophisticated ‘Abrey’ family of chairs by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti.
