Garden VARIETY
Though the word ‘biodiversity’ might conjure images of tropical jungles or mangroves, it’s all around us, as this summer’s ‘The Secret World of Plants’ exhibition at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew seeks to illustrate. Six installations by Seattle-based artist Vaughn Bell allow visitors to experience some of the UK’s threatened habitats as never before, from moorland and marsh to sand dune and oftenoverlooked plants and wildlife that thrive in our cities. Other highlights include architectural seating by designer Paul Cocksedge (below) and the chance to listen to the inner workings of oak trees. 1 May-19 September ( kew.org).
