NEW IN TOWN
Making kitchenettes cool again is no mean feat, but the Locke brand has almost single-handedly sparked fresh appreciation for aparthotels. Its formula is simple to understand, if not easy to pull off – buzzy neighbourhoods, interiors by in-demand studios and the same level of service if you stay three days or three months. Generic, corporate rooms are out, and co-working spaces in. The newest location in east London’s Dalston, Kingsland Locke even has its own microbrewery and gin distillery. Designed by local firm Red Deer, its shared spaces draw on the vernacular of nearby Ridley Road Market, pairing clean, industrial lines with pastel shades and plenty of greenery. Rooms, meanwhile, are muted and cocooning. So, what’s next? World domination it seems – Locke launches in Munich this spring, with outposts in Lisbon, Berlin and Copenhagen on the horizon. From £115 per night (lockeliving.com).
