Hailing from a long line of potters, Jonathan Openshaw was perhaps destined for clay. A love of classical ceramics was further fuelled by studies in archaeolog­y and anthropolo­gy at the University of Cambridge, and a recent trip to Pompeii led to the launch of his collection of striking amphora and urns. Combining classical proportion­s with bold, brutalist forms, pieces are subtly glazed to give the feel of ‘contempora­ry artefacts’, says the designer. From
