13. THE TRY BEFORE YOU BUY GALLERY: Tafeta
When lockdown hit last year, Ayo Adeyinka, founder of contemporary African art gallery Tafeta, came up with a way to bring its pieces to collectors’ homes, instead. The ‘Six for Six’ scheme allows buyers to live with up to three selected works for up to six months, after which they can either return the work/s or purchase in a series of instalments spread over six months. Although restrictions have now eased, the initiative remains in place, signalling that high- and mid-range galleries are evolving to become more flexible and user-friendly (tafeta.com).
