IN THE ROUND
Mary Duggan Architects has completed a garden studio with a difference. Located in south London, this serene space serves as a recording and rehearsal space for a music composer. What sets the design apart is that most of the building’s form is defined by circles – not only do they provide the curves of the thick walls, but also a pair of skylights that allow daylight to filter in from above. These smooth surfaces are complemented by a soft-toned clay-plaster wall finish and a simple wooden bench seat, creating a setting to inspire rather than distract (marydugganarchitects.com).
