Pride of PALMA
Following a smattering of design hotels in Stockholm (and one in Copenhagen), Swedish group Nobis decided it was time it broadened its horizons. Nestled in a historic corner of Mallorcan capital Palma, Concepció is a collaboration between Swedish studio Wingårdhs and Spanish firms Jordi Herrero Arquitectos and Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitecto, which together have coaxed a contemporary retreat from the 16thcentury site’s arches, pillars and vaults. Green and white tiles, handmade by local ceramics house Huguet, create a visual thread through its 31 rooms and spaces, while the canny will clock plenty of Swedish design brands – everything from Gemla headboards to Byredo products in the bathrooms. From approx £187 per night (designhotels.com).
