It was only after finalising his design that Cape Town-based Atang Tshikare became aware of Christian Dior’s own fascination with stars. ‘I genuinely believe it was divine intervention that I chose constellations as my concept, not knowing about his interest in signs,’ says Tshikare, referencing the lucky charm (found on the floor the day Dior decided to start his fashion house) that became Dior’s motif.
