‘Our iterations were imagined as a family of “Medallions” dressed in Dior and for Dior,’ says the founder of the Beirut-based atelier Khaled El Mays. This group of designs shares the attention to detail and craftsmanship that he associates with Dior, but brings in elements of weaving and stitching that speak to Lebanese design. The first of his three iterations (pictured) is the closest in form to the original. The second, a valet chair, is dramatically stretched, with a mirror instead of a backrest, while the third is totally repurposed, folded flat into a bench. @khaledelmays
