GO WEST ( AND E AST)

-

From high-end investments to high-street steals, Westfield’s two London sites are already known as fashion meccas. Now, interiors insiders are catching on to their credentials for haute homeware too, with Westfield London Shepherd’s Bush and Westfield Stratford City drawing in-the-know crowds for the latest and greatest in interiors decor. Here, we round up three of the biggest homes trends right now and reveal why design lovers are adding Westfield to their little black books.

SUSTAINABLE STYLE

Now, more than ever, buying once and well is a seriously hot topic as we look to protect the planet and balance our budgets. Classic British retailer Heal’s* – which has been curating and creating the best of international design since 1810 – has been focused on sustainability long before it was fashionable. Take your pick of timeless styles, recycled furniture and quality materials, knowing you’re creating a home with heart. Our current favourite is the new ‘Allora’ sofa, which features cushions filled with innovative Quallofil Blue, a fibre made from recycled plastic. The White Company, at both Westfield centres, has become synonymous with natural materials and textures as well as responsible fabrics and recycled fibres. Refresh your bed linen for the new season with its ethically sourced natural duvets and pillows for an instant, affordable and more sustainable style update.

JUST JAPANDI

Jump on the Japandi bandwagon at the likes of Zara Home and H&M Home, just two of the high-street names catering to the trend. Combining Scandi functionality and Japanese simplicity for the best of both worlds, it incorporates wellness, neutral tones and clean lines. At Zara Home – which has stores at both Westfield centres – new accessories including its rigid wooden board rug and old favourites such as the ‘Leaf’ ceiling lamp epitomise the look, while H&M Home is committing to the concept with its hugely popular glossy black and natural rattan collection, including everything from chairs and loungers to cabinets and storage.

GILDED GLAMOUR

After what has felt like years of minimalism, glamour is finally back, whether it’s straight out of the 1970s (a micro-trend in its own right – all curved shapes and new-wave beige) or unabashed modern-day maximalism (blending luxe finishes, rich colours and bold patterns).

Luckily, both Westfield centres are serving up the style in its plushest forms, from velvet-clad sofas at DFS (the ‘Heritage’ sofa in emerald green makes a statement in any space) to the gleaming metallics at John Lewis & Partners (the new ‘Origami 11’ brass pendant light is bold but not brash) and the Art Deco mirrors, cushions and more at M&S. Don’t hold back. Shop in-store at Westfield London Shepherd’s Bush (uk.westfield.com/ london/stores/home) or Westfield Stratford City (uk.westfield.com/ stratfordcity/stores/home)
