ELLE meets the figures pioneering change in the fashion industry

Supermodel Arizona Muse turned to sustainability three years ago after hearing the philanthropist Jessica Sweidan talk at a Synchronicity Earth event. Muse now dedicates much of her life and career to sustainability. She is a woman who understands the power of her modelling platform. ‘I’m on the advisory board of The Sustainable Angle [a non-profit organisation that runs the Future Fashion Expo]. It aims to minimise the environmental impact of the industry,’ she explains. Now, brands including Mango and Chopard approach her to help them with sustainable ranges. Muse wants to push accountability away from individuals and back on to the companies that profit from them: ‘A lot of brands promise to make a partial commitment to sustainability by 2O2O. Really? It doesn’t take that long to shift. We need everyone to commit to 1OO% – and soon.’
