SUSTAINABLE SWEET SPOTS

Look to these brands for ethically sourced, environmentally friendly fashion:

JEANERICA Scandinavians are good at denim. Now they’re good at sustainability, too. Jeanerica, a line founded by Jonas Clason, former head of denim at Acne Studios, and friend Lena Patriksson, doesn’t believe in wasteful production, so all jeans are made of 98% sustainable cotton (the other 2% is elastane) and they limit time spent in washing houses, with minimal colouring. Thoughtful ‘forever’ denim. jeanerica.com

CARLA COLOUR If you’re looking for real innovation, environmentally conscious brands are the ones pushing the envelope. Carla Colour makes statement shades using zyl acetate, a smart ‘plastic’ made of natural cotton fibres and wood pulp. The advantage (besides being eco-friendly) is the intensity of colour doesn’t fade in the sun. We’ll take the Modan style – a dead ringer for Céline’s cat-eyes. carlacolour.com

SØSTER STUDIO Founded by Pernille Nadine, this seasonless brand produces luxury jewellery and classic separates in small quantities (the latter made exclusively in the UK), aiming to be as socially and environmentally responsible as possible. That means minimal packaging and a transparent supply chain. It’s also vegetarian, with a strict no leather, fur or skins policy.

And it looks great. sosterstudio.com SM
