ECO SPINNING AT TERRA HALE, LONDON W12

WHAT Terra Hale is London’s first eco-friendly, human-powered gym, where 74% of the energy created during a spin class – bikes are linked up to the grid – goes into keeping the gym’s lights on, the music blaring and, if you pedal hard enough, energy pumping back to the grid.

HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO A NORMAL SPIN CL ASS? Classes are capped at six people per 5O-minute session, so the vibe is intimate and fun. Bikes are linked to an app on gym-goers’ phones, which tracks the number of watts generated and projects the total wattage on a big screen to motivate the class.

SPECIAL TOUCHES Every aspect of Terra Hale has been considered, from the water bottles (metal, and PPA-free) to the sweat towels (biodegradable within 12 weeks). Yoga mats and weights are comprised of 1OO% recycled materials, and the coffee cups are made of compressed coffee-bean waste. It’s a full-body, fully green workout.

GOOD FOR complete satisfaction. It’s a double-whammy of post-workout endorphins and planet-preserving activity.

WHAT NEXT? Terra Hale is planning to introduce treadmills that, like the bikes, will be hooked up to the grid. terrahale.com
