NEW ROYALS
Start planning your viewing party: The Crown is coming back, with an even more conversationworthy cast. Olivia Colman succeeds Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II and Helena Bonham Carter joins as Princess Margaret in season three of Netflix’s royal biopic. Also joining the cast are these new faces…
EMERALD FENNELL Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
Taking over from Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the lead writer on Killing Eve’s second season, this Oxford graduate, known for her role in Call The Midwife, is also an award-winning children’s author. Now, Emerald takes on the role of a young Camilla Parker Bowles (then Shand). Her debut film, Promising Young Woman (with Carey Mulligan, co-produced by Margot Robbie) is out next year, and she is currently writing the lyrics for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical adaptation of Cinderella.
ERIN DOHERTY Princess Anne
Having starred in BBC’s Call The Midwife and the 2O18 mini-series Les Misérables, Crawleyborn actor Erin portrays no-nonsense Princess Anne, the Queen’s daughter who foiled a kidnapping attempt on herself in 1974. She says she prepared for the role by spending entire days as Anne, ordering coffee, eating meals and even watching films in character.
EMMA CORRIN Diana, Princess of Wales
Though her only previous credits are Pennyworth and an episode of Grantchester, Emma will star opposite Keira Knightly in Misbehaviour, following a group of women who disrupt the 197O Miss World beauty pageant (out this autumn). She will then join the cast of The Crown as the ‘People’s Princess’ for season four.
