LOOK BOOK: PLAYFUL PASTELS
HAVE FUN MIXING GENTLE GELATO EYES, FROSTED LILAC LIPS AND MULTICOLOURED MANIS WITH BRIGHT POPS OF PRIMARY COLOUR
The SS20 runways were awash with gentle hues – here’s how to recreate the looks for everyday
The BEAUTY CHARM
Nothing bottles playfulness quite like Chanel Chance perfumes, and now the brand is rewriting the game with its Fragrance Pens, £65 for set (left). The three classic scents remain the same, but in a tiny pen that makes application a doodle – sorry, doddle. We’ve never enjoyed perfume more.
The KEY
An array of showstopping powder-effect lips were seen at Self-Portrait SS2O. Lean towards cooler colours or rosy or violet pinks to brighten up any skintone. The new Gucci Rouge À Levres Mat lipsticks, £34 each, come in every frosted pastel shade we could ask for (pictured from top in Virgina Fleur de Lis, Three Wise Girls,
Queen Christina and Vantine
Fuchsia). The perfect finish should come with a Mr Whippy ice-cream effect. It does cost more than 99p, though, sadly.
The INSPIRATION
Bold colours were swept onto lids backstage at Balmain – we like to call it ‘gelato eyes’. Rainbow brights were diffused into watercolour stains thanks to a refreshingly haphazard application. To achieve the ‘Twiggy’ look (as above), apply using a flat brush to keep the vibrancy, then smudge out and top with moisturiser for a glass effect. We love (above, from left) Surrat Beauty Artistique Eyeshadow in Envier, £18, Duochrome Eyeshadow in Cosmos, £28, Artistique Eyeshadow in Fee Dragée, £18, and (right) Duochrome Eyeshadow in Nebula, £28.
The NAIL FILES
Turns out you no longer have to stick to one nail colour – SS2O’s ‘Skittle’ mani says so. At Olivia Rubin, models were spotted with a different pastel tone on each nail. Try OPI Nail Lacquer in You’re Such A Budapest (above), This Cost Me A Mint and Never A Dulles Moment (both right), £13.5O each, to nail the rainbow look in one coat.
The ENDS
At Moschino, hair was inspired by the art world, so naturally involved splashes of colour. Lengths were parted down the middle, heavily gelled and pulled back into a low bun with strokes of bright paint worked in. Brave enough? Go easy on your locks with a temporary colour – try Moroccanoil Color Depositing Mask, £28.85 (far right), which comes in an array of brights that leave hair in great condition. Soak it all out with Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Triple Detox Shampoo, £24 (right), which works like a magnet for everything from product build-up to pollution.
